Happy Birthday Akshay Kumar !!

With duds like ‘Patiala House’ and ‘Thank You’ behind him, the year so far has proven not so lucky for the ‘Khiladi’ Kumar.

Our in house expert and celebrity astro numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi predicts what’s in store for Akshay Kumar who celebrates his birthday on September 9?

“Akshay was born on 9th September, 1967 which makes him a Number 9 person in numerology. He is a Virgo (ruler Mercury – Number 5) and his destiny number also adds up to Number 5 (Mercury). That means ‘Akki’ (as he is fondly called) is ruled by Mercury twice. Too good !” states Bhavikk.
“Being a Number 9, Akki is full of energy, vibrancy and aggression. That’s why he does not refrain from performing daredevil stunts in most of his movies and even in real life. No wonder he is still addressed as ‘Khiladi Kumar’. Being ruled by Number 5 twice, he is a fast learner, impatient and restless as well. At times, this trait does work for him but can also get him into trouble vis-Ă -vis communicating with people. As far as work is concerned, he is a complete go getter and will not budge until his goals are accomplished” explains Bhavikk describing his characteristic.
“Akshay will now be entering his 45th year, which indicates ‘mixed results’ for the action star. Health-wise problems like loss of sleep, pain in the back or legs is strongly indicated. He may become prone to injuries and should take care of any mishaps or accidents while performing his daredevil stunts or acts” warns Bhavikk.
“I would advise him to wear a Red Coral to be set in gold to stop any unnecessary delays in his life (whatsoever) and to stay away from any health issues especially blood related” suggests Bhavikk.
“On the film front, his next release ‘Desi Boyz’ will do good business, but it will be ‘Joker’ and ‘Housefull 2’ releasing in 2012 which will garner maximum collections” predicts Bhavikk before signing off.

BOL -Movie Review
The literal English translation of this week’s new release Bol is to speak out and talk - which this film does in plenty. Director Shoaib Mansoor has a reputation of speaking out on subjects otherwise taboo or dangerous. In his last venture Khuda Ke Liye he spoke of Islam, its interpretation and relevance in a modern society while in Bol, he takes another aspect of Islam and dwells on the inherent inequality between genders and the virtues of family planning. The film released 2 months back in Pakistan and releases in India on Eid.
The story is a touching tale. Hakeem Saab with his ability to produce only daughters (rather sarcastically put in the movie), his battered wife, five "paanch-paas" daughters and their life in shackles. Many commonly misunderstood tenets of Islam are questioned rather fearlessly which is a good thing for a society in flux but where does it stand on the high pedestal of world cinema? Hmm... That is exactly what I am coming to.
There are few unforgettable things about the film. First is the rather brave story itself with some bold powerful performances by Hakeem Saab (Manzar Sehbai) and his eldest daughter Zainub (Humaima Mallik). There interface almost always is electrifying. Also endearing is the knack of weaving in humor with a powerful story such as this while appeasing your funny bone. Laughs pop out from unexpected scenes. Contrasting Hakim Saab's world with that of a dancing girl, daringly spoofing everything from cricket fanaticism to Hakim's ability to have only baby girls indeed adorn itself in the league of intelligent humor.
However the fate of this story is the perfect case of aiming to be the bride and ending up as the bridesmaid. First is the length. It is long - something that the story does not warrant so you are bound to fidget in your chair a couple of times. Then there are slips in the story and characterization that is unpardonable. The girls, their outlook and mannerisms do not bear witness to the tag of being uneducated and "paachvi - paas". Take for instance the other daughter Ayesha (Mahira Khan) who takes only a few seconds to get acclimatized to the limelight and stage fright. The end of the film is also flawed. It’s too abrupt and the way loose strings are tied up looks almost childish. Making his acting debut is singer Atif Aslam.
Although his music in the film is good, his acting abilities strike a discordant note. Hope it proves to be a warning for him as much as it does for us.
All in all it is a film packed with emotion, high drama and humor. It manages to caress our heart and inspire us to question authority but could easily have been better had the numerous glitches had been avoided warranting a rating of 7/10.

Google Doodle Amazing Animation to Celebrate Freddie Mercury's 65th Birthday

Google Doodle Animation to Celebrate Freddie Mercury's  65th Birthday
Today’s Google doodle celebrates the birthday of Queen’s legendary singer Freddie Mercury, and it’s definitely one of the most interesting doodles to come out of Google’s workshop yet. Note that the doodle will become visible on September 6 in the U.S. out of respect for Labor Day.
One of the best vocalists ever in rock music, Freddie Mercury was born on September 5 1946, and he died in on November 24 1991. He was known for his flamboyant presence on stage, amazing four-octave vocal range, and an unforgettable series of hits which ranged from hard rock to power ballads to neo-classical pieces.
Today’s doodle is also accompanied by a blog post from Google, which was written by none other than Queen’s guitarist Brian May.
“Some people imagine Freddie as the fiery, difficult diva who required everyone around him to compromise. No. In our world, as four artists attempting to paint on the same canvas, Freddie was always the one who could find the compromise—the way to pull it through. If he found himself at odds with any one of us, he would quickly dispel the cloud with a generous gesture, a wisecrack or an impromptu present”, writes Brian in one passage.

Freddie Mercury Biography

Name: Farrokh Bulsara
Date of Birth: 5th September, 1946
Place of Birth: Stone Town, Zanzibar
Died: 24th November, 1991
Studied at : Ealing College of Art
Degree: Diploma of Art and Design
Pre-Queen Bands: Sour Milk Sea, Wreckage, Hectic, IbexFreddie Mercury Biography

Farrokh Bulsara was born on Thursday, 5th of September 1946 on African spice island of Zanzibar, to parents Bomi and Jer Bulsara. His early schooling was spent away from the family at a boarding school in Bombay. His father Bomi, was a British diplomat, so they were often moving from one place to another. In 1954, aged 8 years, Freddie started to attend British College School, St. Peter's in Panchgan (near to the city of Bombay). At this time his schoolmates started to call him by the name of Freddie. The school was typically British and in sports Freddie was very strong in boxing and in table tennis, winning many trophies and medals. He also loved art and music and showed great talent in both areas ; playing the piano and performing in school shows and also joining the school choir. Freddie, with the encouragement of the headmaster of the school, did piano lessons and applied himself to them very well achieving Grade IV in both practical and theory. In 1958, five friends at St Peter's School formed a rock'n roll outfit called 'The Hectics' - the members were Freddie Bulsara, Bruce Murray, Derrick Branche, Victory Rana and Farang Irani (Freddie was the piano player in the band). They played at school parties, at annual events and school dances.
Freddie Mercury Biography

His family eventually settled in England in 1964, the same year he enrolled at Ealing College of Art. In 1969, Freddie graduated from Ealing with a Diploma in Art and Design Freddie was a huge fan of Jimmy Hendrix and was still very interested in music.
It was a Ealing that Freddie met Tim Staffel, who was in a band called Smile, with Brian May and Roger Taylor. Freddie attended many performances and rehersals with Tim and became great friends with Brian and Roger also. By this stage Freddie had started to use the name Mercury after the mythical God. In 1969 Freddie graduated with a diploma in art and design.
Freddie, as he was known by now, he played in a series of groups from 'Ibex' to 'Sour Milk Sea' and then 'Wreckage' which he founded himself. His friends, Tim, Brian and Roger were having good but slow progress with Smile - but it was too slow for Tim and Smile broke up, with Tim joining another band as things weren't happening fast enough for him. Freddie soon left his band 'Wreckage' and joined Brian and Roger because he felt the previous band 'Smile' was very good and had all the elements that he wanted in a band. In 1970 Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, Brian May and Mike Grose formed a band called 'Queen'. After a turnstyle type rotation of bass players, John Deacon joined Queen in 1971 and Queen as we know it was formed. (You can read the main bio to see what happed in Queen after this point...)
Freddie Mercury Biography

Freddie now went and designed the band's logo with his Diploma being put to work. He used the birth signs of everyone in the band : 2 fairies for him (Virgo), 2 lions for Roger and John (Leo) and a crab for Brian (Cancer). Queen recorded a debut album which had limited success but Queens early hits were Freddies songs, 'Seven Seas Of Rhye', 'Killer Queen' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.
In 1980 Freddie changed his image, cutting his hair and growing a moustache with hard-core fans sending gifts of nail polish and razor blades. Freddie, during a Queen break in 1983, wanted to record a solo album and booked studio time at Musicland in Munich. On September 10, 1984 Freddie's first solo single, 'Love Kills' was released. Other solo releases included 'I Was Born To Love You' and this preceeded the April 9, 1985 release of Freddie's first solo album Mr. Bad Guy was released by CBS Records.
Freddie Mercury Biography

The late 1980s was very good for Queen with the Live Aid performance on July 13, 1985 and the huge Wembley shows in the summer of 86. Freddie went back to the studio in 87 to do some more solo work, resulting in a cover of the classic Platters song 'The Great Pretender', and was released on February 23rd. In March '87 Freddie flew to Barcelona to meet opera singer Montserrat Caballé who Freddie had seen in 1983. In April, Freddie began work on a co-venture, which was an album with Montserrat Caballé. On Saturday, October 8th, 1988 Freddie and Montserrat appeared at a huge open air festival called 'La Nit' which was held in Barcelona. They performed three tracks from the forthcoming album - 'How Can I Go On', 'The Golden Boy' & 'Barcelona', accompanied by Mike Moran on piano, who also recorded on the album. The 'Barcelona' album was finally released on Monday, October 10th. October 8th was actually the final time Freddie Mercury performed on stage.
Between the release of Barcelona and the 90s, Freddie was seen less and less and also looking at times frail. This is most seen in the final 2 videos of I'm Going Slightly Mad and These are the Days of our Lives. The final time he appeared on camera, he whispered the words, 'I still love you', perhaps a message to the fans, perhaps a good bye.
Freddie Mercury Biography

On November 24th, 1991 Freddie Mercury died peacefully at his London home. He died of AIDS-related bronchial pneumonia. Freddie was cremated according to the beliefs of his parents and himself. Many celebrities including David Bowie, Elton John and others attended his removal.
On April 20th, 1992 a tribute concert in Freddie Mercurys memory was held at Wembley Stadium. And in 1995, another tribute to Freddie was the album 'Made In Heaven', which was released on November 6th, 1995. This album was compiled and maastered by the 3 remaining members of Queen.
Freddies music and memory lives on and he was truly one of the greatest singers, songwriters and performers ever...
Freddie Mercury (1946 - 1991) : A singer of songs, a lover of life.
